Lejre 2007

We were at Lejre again July 15-22nd witch was a few weeks earlier than usual. We were exceptionally lucky about the weather. For more than a month before the rain had been pouring down, but the same Saturday that we arrived, the sun looked down through the clouds, and it kept shining almost all the week that we were there (except the last day, Sunday). After our stay at Lejre the rain started poring again!

All in all it was a good week, even though we were struck by illness in the families.
Erik got to experiment more with tattooing with thorns, and by using ochre as colour. That happened in cooperation with a German stone age enthusiast.

The tents at Ravnebjerg (The Raven Hill) were placed different this year because the Centre is building new
public houses. We had a fine view, but were a butt off from the rest of the market place.

Here I am tattooing Lejre's logo using a hawthorn as needle. I had plucked it just behind the tents.

Here we are in the stone age, and he gets three dots tattooed.
I am using a bone needle and a small flint stone as 'needles' and has mixed some ochre as colour.
An exciting experiment. Ochre is a pigment that has been known and used for thousands of years.
